Corydoras are interesting little catfish. When I bought my 4 little albino corys I got a lot more than I had expected. Which I’m not sure was necessarily a good thing. What I was looking for was a clean up crew that wasn’t noticeable, yet still came from the Amazon. Well these cory cats did that, only they flutter all over the place, not just staying near the bottom, but literally fluttering in your face. I have many large and thick plants in the tank, I figured maybe they would get themselves lost in there and I wouldn’t have to see them, but no, they make a point to be noticed. Now they are one of my favorite fish in the tank. They are really cool to watch flutter around. They are an excellent ground crew. They don’t seem to care about things such as territory, personal space, or for that matter anything else that other fish like. They race around and run into angelfish periodically, but aren’t harassed by them. It’s a neat little show to watch. They add much character to the tank. You need to be careful when you keep hem with cichlids, either discus, angelfish, dwarf cichlids, or whatever else, cichlids are territorial and will attack, hurt, or maybe even kill these little guys by protecting their spawning site. There are sooooo many types of corys that I won’t begin to talk about them. All of them come from the Amazon area and are acceptable in the tank. They are family united fish, so keep them in groups of four or more. MAKE SURE THEY GET THEIR SHARE. They aren’t JUST the clean up crew, they need to be fed also. They are the best fish for any aquarist.
